Frederick is a fast-growing town in southwestern Weld County, about 20 miles north of downtown Denver, that has kept its historic main street and small-town feel while adding new neighborhoods, shopping and miles of trails. Together with neighboring Firestone and Dacono it forms the "Tri-Town" area, often called the Carbon Valley for the coal that built it.
The town counted 14,513 residents in the 2020 Census, and Census Bureau estimates put it at roughly 18,000 by 2025. Homes range from early-1900s cottages near downtown to newly built subdivisions on the edges of town, with mountain views from much of Frederick.
As of October 21, 2026, these are the figures from current MLS listings shown on this site for homes, townhomes and condos in Frederick:

Most homes for sale are single-family houses averaging about 3 to 4 bedrooms. List prices run from around $240,000 to about $2 million. The lower end is concentrated in Prairie Greens and a handful of older homes near the historic core, while the top of the market includes larger lots in Rinn Valley Ranch, Angel View Estates and new custom construction in Hauck Meadows. New construction is a real part of the market here: roughly 15 newly built homes are listed, many in Hidden Creek and Noname Creek West.
Other Frederick neighborhoods you will see often include Wyndham Hill, Johnson Farm, Moore Farm, Eagle Valley, Silverstone, Westview and the original town of Evanston.
Frederick began as a coal mining camp known as McKissick. It was incorporated on December 26, 1907, and named by three sisters for their father, Frederick A. Clark, who owned the land. Several coal mines operated in and around town for decades, drawing immigrant families from Italy, Greece, Mexico, the Slavic countries and beyond, and the Union Pacific line through town helped miners, farmers and merchants build a lasting community.
That heritage is still celebrated every September at Miners Day, the town's biggest event, held at Centennial Park downtown with a parade, a burro race, food trucks, live music and an evening fireworks show.
The Town reports about 26 acres of parkland per 1,000 residents, with most homes within walking distance of a neighborhood or pocket park.
Frederick is served by St. Vrain Valley Schools. Schools in town include:
School assignments depend on the exact address. Confirm boundaries with the district's school locator before you buy.
Frederick sits along I-25, with the Highway 52 interchange (exit 235) as the main gateway. That puts Longmont, Boulder, Broomfield and north Denver within an easy drive, and Denver International Airport about 30 miles away. Highway 52 and Colorado Boulevard form the town's growing commercial hub, anchored by Silverstone Marketplace and Frederick's first King Soopers, while the historic downtown along Fifth and Oak Streets keeps local shops and restaurants close to home.
Frederick is also served by the Frederick-Firestone Fire Protection District, which holds an ISO Class 2 rating. Exploring the area more broadly? See our Longmont Colorado homes for sale.
"As my agent, Matt was great. He was very professional and did an excellent job communicating with me about the sale of my house during a very difficult market. He was highly knowledgeable, and I would recommend him as a top real estate agent."
Russell Sibel, Frederick, CO
"I've known Matt for over 20 years, and he is an outstanding agent. I haven't worked with any professional who has better communication skills than him. He paid for my home warranty and contributed toward my concessions, which I used to buy down my interest rate. I would highly recommend working with Matt."
Charles Raisley, Frederick, CO
