A Little Jamestown History

Jamestown grew from the gold rush and was named for James Smith, an early discoverer of gold in the area. It was incorporated as a town on June 22, 1883, and mining shaped its early decades. In September 2013, James Creek flooded and road damage cut the town off, and residents were airlifted to Boulder before the community rebuilt.
